The habitats of the indian peafowl are open plains, grasslands and ‘chenas’ in the dry, low country regions in the Northwest, East and southeast.The male(peacock) and female (peahen) can be told aport becouse of the male’s long tail of feathers.However there are male uses its long tail to attract the females.Throughout the year,Peafowl shed the feathers of their long,beautiful tails.How ever it grows back again.The peahens and their young live together as a group and build their nests under bushes using dry grass and leaves.peahens lay 3 – 5eggs at a time.At night, peacocks prefer to sleep on the highest branches of tail trees.
